Welcome to 2017! What a way to start the new year, than with our first Gin of the Year 2017!

This one has been on our wish list for most of 2016…and it’s finally here at Gin Lord HQ.

Clover Gin comes from the beautiful Belgium – created by three sisters. Like the three leaves of a Clover, similar but not the same; Ann-Sophie, Charlotte and Nanouck grew up at “kalmthoutse heide” which is a green getaway not far from Antwerp.  They always wanted to do something together but never quite figured out what.  The gin and tonic is their favourite alcoholic drink (one thing they do have in common) so they decided to create a new gin. One year of brainstorming, a lot of tastings with friends and friends of friends –  Clover Gin was born!

All the hard work was completely worth it.  A fresh, vibrant opening with juniper and lavender are hand-in-hand, you then get a beautiful reminder of pear drops on the nose and palate. Slight peppery undertones – and overall a complete triumph!

We spoke to Charlotte from Clover Gin recently – here’s what she had to say!

“Floral, delicate and unique”

How should Clover Gin best be enjoyed?

“Our perfect serve is a fresh slice of ginger, some juniper berries and a couple of fresh coriander leaves. We like to use aneutral  premium tonic because of the dry taste, that way you can really experience the fresh notes of lavender and pear.”

What are your plans for 2017?

“2016 has been a crazy year for us. The best gift was that there are so many people out there that love Clover Gin just as much as we do. In 2017 we will be working just as hard (or harder) to keep on growing (we are working on a new taste) and we would love to take Clover Gin abroad (export).”
