Pre-mixed – The Good, The Bad & The Calorific?

Often I see people who, to get through a long train journey, plough through a couple of cans G&T. Or even on a picnic on a warm day – these things seem to be everywhere at the moment.

This month I’m really keen to get the conversation started about pre-mixed cocktails. I will be focussing (of course) on the gin offerings – but there are LOADS of variations out there, which will follow the same principles.

So what is a Pre-Mixed Cocktail? Usually in a 250ml can, ready to drink, around the 5% abv, most tasting of sugar and flavouring. However, in some cases they are rather tasty – but there is a significant lack of information on the packaging about what it is you’re actually drinking.

More and more Distilleries are wanting you to enjoy their perfect serve, all in a convenient can or bottle. A great idea and way of getting your product out there, and a way for people to enjoy without committing to a whole bottle.

So should the “nutritional” information be put on the packaging? Sugar content? Calories? (Shout out to Adnams for one of the only ones to put the calories on!)

Below, I have taken just a small sample of what is on offer at supermarkets at the moment and tried to give you as much information as possible. A few google searches helped me in places, but even google couldn’t tell me the calorie content of some of our favourites.

I’d be really interested to know your opinion on this!! Oh, for the record – my favourite is without doubt the LoneWolf G&T (yes, because of the ABV) – no compromises here! Genuinely the perfect serve.

All information below is based on what is on the label, or what I could dig out from Google! As accurate as possible!
